Catching up

I'm a little behind in my blog updates. Life has been really busy the past couple of weeks. I'm finally getting up some pictures from last weekend when our friends Janna and Robby came to visit. We are so thankful they took the time to travel from MN to hang out with us for the weekend. We had such a great time! Sam absolutely loved having them around...as did we. It was nice just to relax, talk, eat, enjoy the beautiful weather, etc. Again, we wish Minnesota and Chicago were closer so we could see each other more often.

A weekend with family

This past weekend we met my mom, dad, and brother in Wisconsin Dells for a little getaway. I think all of us are tired of the 7 hour drive to see each other, so we decided to meet in the middle. We stayed at a great hotel and had time to relax, shop, eat, and hang out. The weekend went too fast. We'll definitely be doing it again.

With Grandpa...not too thrilled about the whole shopping thing

Making a yummy breakfast...just like at home

The boys seemed to enjoy the breakfast...I did too.

We took Sam on the "lazy river." He wasn't sure what to think

Even after the 3rd time around the expression on his face didn't change

Sam even got to celebrate his 10 month birthday at a fancy restaurant on Sat. night.

Apple Fest

There are so many reasons why I love the fall. I love the changing colors, the crunch of leaves under my feet, the chance to wear a cozy sweatshirt, and the multitude of ways to eat apples. This weekend I got out with the girls to enjoy Long Grove Apple Fest. Despite the fact that it was raining, we enjoyed wandering around the little village, checking out the fun shops, and tasting the wonders of apple donuts and steaming hot apple cider. It was a very refreshing afternoon and once again reminded me what a blessing it is to have such wonderful friends.

A new trick

Sam has gotten quite good at imitating us. Here's one of his new favorite tricks. He especially likes to do it when he has a mouth full of food.
