May happenings

May has been another busy month for the Isaza family. Julio's one week away from being done with the semester and is looking forward to a little break from studying! He did manage to get away for a few hours one morning to take Sam to the zoo with some friends. While Julio has been busy studying in the library, Sam and I have been finding ways to enjoy some free time, which has included a trip to the children's museum and hanging out at home making chocolate chip cookies.

Sam helped me host a baby shower for our friend, Jen, who will be having a little boy in June.

One Saturday morning we got a free pass to the children's museum, so Sam and I headed downtown to Navy Pier. We got there early and enjoyed plenty of time to play before it got too busy with other kids. Sam got into the spirit of fishing opener by pretend fishing.

Here he is playing bus driver!

For mother's day Julio and Sam surprised me with a wonderful gift - the afternoon off and a manicure/pedicure. I enjoyed a few hours to myself at the spa and then walking around the mall - it was a gorgeous day and the tulips were stunning. After my afternoon alone, Julio met me for dinner at Cheesecake factory!

Julio and Sam went with our friends Jason and Jocelyn to the Lincoln Park zoo one morning. Jocelyn and Sam know each other from the nursery at church, still it took them a bit to warm up to each other. They both enjoyed seeing the many animals and having the time with their dads.

This Saturday I decided it would be a good day to make some cookies. So, Sam had his first experience of helping me make chocolate chip cookies. He got his own spoon and enjoyed the opportunity to stand on the chair and be where the action was.

I tried to tell him flour doesn't taste good.
