Bake Sale

In August, Julio, Sam and I will be taking a team of 14 people from our church in Chicago to Medellin, Colombia. We will be serving the local churches and ministries, working in the areas of children and youth ministry. We will be leading vacation bible schools, a day camp for children who participate in the social program "Seamos Parces", a retreat for youth leaders and participating in various church services and programs. We are so excited about this opportunity and especially about the team of people who will be joining us on this trip.


We have started fundraising for the trip, to help cover the cost of the transportation, lodging, materials, etc. Two-weeks ago (yes, I'm a little behind in my blogging) we had a bake sale at church. Everyone in the team baked something (cookies, muffins, cupcakes, bread, brownies, etc.) to contribute to the sale. We had so many baked goods :) I didn't think we would be able to sell all of them, but we did.



We asked people to take what they wanted and just leave a donation. People were so supportive and generous. Even little children contributed to the cause. One little boy even brought his piggy bank to donate to the Colombia team. I was speechless. All in all we were able to raise above and beyond our goal!





The bake sale was a huge success and served as such an encouragement to the team. We will continue to host bake sales, as well as other fundraising events. Thanks to those of you who have partnered with us and have committed to support us through your prayers or donations.
